Dr. Amy Bogardus

Dr. Amy Bogardus is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who has been in practice since 1998. She was born in Pikeville, Kentucky, and has lived in Kentucky most of her life. After graduating Jessamine County High School in 1986, she earned a B.A. in psychology from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky in 1990, before going on to receive a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 1994. After dental school, Dr. Bogardus completed an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Following residency, in 1998, Dr. Bogardus entered private practice in Danville, Kentucky with Drs. Joseph and Beto. After Dr. Joseph’s retirement from oral surgery, she purchased his half of the practice now known as Danville Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She maintains privileges at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford, as well as the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, where she has served as a voluntary part-time faculty member since 1998. Dr. Bogardus’s favorite areas of practice include extraction of third molars, treatment of oral pathology, and placement of dental implants.

She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Other professional associations to which she belongs include the American Dental Association, the Kentucky Dental Association, the Bluegrass Dental Society, the Kentucky Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. She is certified in ACLS and PALS, and is a BLS instructor.

Dr. Bogardus’s outside interests include spending time with her Redbone Coonhounds Amber and Minnie Mae, aviation, gardening, and travel. She enjoys using her private pilot license to perform rescue missions for Pilots N Paws, an animal rescue organization.
